The pixel test structure S2 is a double sided device [...]
the pixels have the standard
Atlas prototype-1 footprint: 50 x 400 microns cell size, atoll p-stop implant.
The p-stop implant is [...]wide with a gap from the n+ implant.
The distance between atolls is
6 um. Biasing with punch through is not implemented. There is no use of metal 2, but the design is compatible
with this technology.
A drawing showing a S2 pixel cell with the dimensions can be found in the following
jpeg file
Here is shown the general layout. The size is 10.4 x 9.6 mm.

As a byproduct of the design we have found a very nice pattern, which we have patented
and sold (..well, it was a hard job indeed) to a kiltmaker in Kirkintilloch, Scotland, registered as
the Mc Atlas arms. We reproduce here the pattern with the permission of the propertor.

The Design was made in Udine with the software package "Wavemaker" (Barnard Microsystems Ltd)
A detail of the structure is shown in the following figure:

The left-bottom corner of the pixel side is shown in the following picture (defined so when the
strip bonding pads are at the bottom). Both the small guard-ring,
and the large one have the connections made with bump pads. The inner guard-ring is formed by an array of
8 pixels x 18 connected with each other. The width is adjusted on the width of the strip bonding pads.
On the top of the structure the guard-ring is made with 2 x 18 pixels.

The "standard multiple guard ring" structure designed by the Max Plank Institut, Munich, has been
implemented to this device.

The test structure S1 is just an array of pixels wit a strip-like read-out. The pixel size is
the standard one (23, 6, 5, 5, 5). Guard rings (MPI) have been implemented. the structure
has the following look:
