GENERAL INFORMATION

REGISTRATION AND CONFERENCE MATERIALS

On 23.8 from 17.00 to 19.00 participants will be welcomed with a reception in the Sala Colonne at Palazzo Florio, seat of the Rectorate of the University of Udine.

A pre-Conference Secretariat will operate there for payment of the fee, collection of scientific materials and general information. With the registration the participants will receive the programme booklet and a voucher that will allow them to collect further materials (the conference bag containing tourist information and gifts) from the Secretariat of the Conference at the Rizzi University Campus, main venue of the Conference.

The participants who do not register at Palazzo Florio on 23rd of August, will receive the folder with the programme booklet at the opening ceremony. They will then be able to register and collect their voucher from the secretariat of the Conference at the Rizzi Campus from 13.00 on 24th August onwards during the opening hours of the secretariat.

HOW TO GET ABOUT IN UDINE

Udine is a small city suitable for walking around. Bus n.1 crosses the city from the Railway Station to the Hospital via the old town centre.

HOW TO REACH UDINE CASTLE FOR THE OPENING CERIMONY

  • By bus: UdineCastle is in the centre of the city and can be reached by bus n.1. All the buses with the direction "Railway Station" have a stop at a five minutes walking-distance from the Castle.
  • By car: there is a big parking lot in Piazza 1deg. Maggio, at the foot of the Castle hill.

    OPENING OF THE CONFERENCE

    The opening ceremony will be held in the Salone del Parlamento of Udine Castle according to the following programme:

    CONFERENCE SECRETARIAT AT THE RIZZI UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

    The Secretariat will be open for the duration of the Conference in room 14 on the main corridor C0 in front of the main entrance with the following opening hours:

    We remind the participants that the fee is Lit 165.000 (about 100 US$) and Lit 84.000 (about 50 US$) for accompanying-persons. Payment must be in Italian lire in cash. The registration fee includes scientific material, general information, tourist information, gifts, welcome reception, refreshments at the castle, coffee breaks, visit to the Casa del Vino with wine tasting , guided trip around Udine, concert, scientific trip to Synchrotron and LIS (lunch included). Every morning the accompanying persons will have a person at their disposal to show them around Udine.

    Enrollment for the first visit to the Casa del Vino with wine tasting must be completed by 17.00 on the 24.8.95. Booking is necessary since Palazzo Moroldi seat of the Casa del Vino has a maximum capacity of 75 people.

    Enrollment for the following activities must be completed by 11.30 on the 25.8.95 at the secretariat:

    Enrollment for the second visit to the Casa del Vino with wine tasting must be completed by 11.00 on 29.8 at the secretariat.

    Phone cards, bus tickets, tourist information, stationary will available from the secretariat.

  • PREPARATION OF POSTERS AND EXHIBITS

    The spaces available are shown in the small map of the Conference booklet. The preparation must be carried out by those concerned, who are kindly asked to contact Mr. Plinio De Zorzi during secretariat opening hours to be assigned a location.

    HANDING IN OF PAPERS FOR THE PROCEEDINGS

    Papers presented at the Conference will be published in the Proceedings. They must be prepared according to the format- instructions for papers sent with the third circular to all participants. The copy on paper (camera ready hard copy , tables and mathematical formulae inserted at appropriate points in the text. References numbered and written at the end of the text according to the AJP editorial standard) and the copy on disc ( DOS or Mac disc with ASCII file and Word for Windows file) must be handed in to Giuseppe at the Conference secretariat

    MEALS

    Participants may use the University canteen located at Via Cotonificio (600 metres from the seat of the Conference) at the price of Lit 7200. Those concerned must book by 17.00 of the preceeding day. Information on restaurants in Udine can be found below.

    How to reach the Rizzi University Campus

    (seat of the Conference from the afternoon of 24.8 onwards.)

  • Special buses
    A special bus service has been organised for the participants which consists of two buses X and Y with the following stops:

    A- The corner of Via Mentana and Via Podgora for the guests of Sport Hotel (H5).
    B- In front of the Hotel Friuli (H3) in viale Ledra
    C- In correspondence with the last bus stop on Viale Ledra (almost on Piazzale XXVI Luglio) for guests coming from the centre of the town and Hotel Astoria Italia (H1).
    D- In piazzale Cella on the opposite side of Hotel San Giorgio (H4).
    E- At the student residence C8 - ERDISU.
    F- At the student residence Collegio Bertoni (C9).
    G - Scientific Rizzi University Campus.

  • By car
    From the city centre follow the sign "ospedale" and then the sign "Università".

  • Public city bus service
    Bus n.10 connects the Rizzi Campus with the city centre and the railway station. It runs every 30 minutes from 7.30 am to 19.50 pm. Buses n.6 and n.2 stop near the Campus. They stop in via Cotonificio (circa 700 metres) and in via Lombardia (circa 900 metres) respectively.

    ACCOMMODATION PAYMENT

    The participants staying in hotels may settle the payment at their own hotel at the reduced price found in the second circular.

    The participants staying at the student residence ERDISU may settle the payment at the Conference secretariat, a receipt solely for internal use will be issued. A legal receipt may be obtained on request from the accounts department of ERDISU before the 25.8 paying the remainder directly into the bank.

    The participants staying at the Collegio Bertoni may settle the payment directly at the Collegio Bertoni.
